Murgh Lasooni Recipe – Garlic chicken curry

I’m back from Romania since more than a month but I have been busy shifting to a new apartment. Chaos, visiting dozens apartments, dislikes and likes, frantically packing and unpacking, but finally settling.

For those who are unfamiliar with life in India, renting an apartment can be very challenging and hectic. It’s not like contacting a real estate agency, visiting couple of apartments and choosing one, close the deal with papers and then move in. Oh no, not so easy!

It goes like this: you search (usually online) for an apartment, call (most of the time) a broker – sometimes they use a trick to advertise an attractive and cheap apartment and when the calls come in, the broker says the apartment is gone, but that he has others in the wanted area that are similar looking but higher in price. You tell the broker what exactly you want and in what budget, and you think he understood and will show you apartments accordingly – but no, he calls you, asks you to come visit some apartments and there you find out that either is higher in price or is not the size you asked for, etc etc. Waste of time and more headaches.

When you finally found the apartment you like and want to close the deal, you find out that some housing societies don’t accept non-veg people (yes, sometimes dietary habits count too), some only accept families, some landlords don’t accept self-employed peoples, others ask for exorbitant deposit amount, and the list go on and on.

Anyways, my husband and I ultimately found a cozy two bedroom flat after a speedy month of daily hunting apartments. I think we are lucky after all.

As I didn’t have too much time to cook past month, being mostly out there hunting for apartment, we usually ordered food or ate outside. And there is a particular dish we had often these days: Murgh Lasoonia chicken curry with lots of garlic. A delicious dish that I decided to try my hands on and cook it. Result was delicious and here I am, sharing the recipe with you.
