Lasuni gobi recipe – Cauliflower with garlic

Cauliflower is not a very exciting vegetable for a lot of people, it doesn’t have much of taste and it needs additional flavors to make a tasty dish out of it.

You need to know the right way to cook it, the right ingredients that pair well with cauliflower. And one such right ingredient and flavor that goes amazing with cauliflower is garlic.

Before moving to India, the only ways that I used to eat cauliflower was roasted or mashed. But not anymore! There are so many Indian style cauliflower recipes that I never get bored of trying. And Lasuni gobi (cauliflower with garlic) is yet another recipe.

If you are craving healthy meals, then this stir fry cauliflower with garlic, ginger, tomato and spices can be your next recipe to try. It is simple to make, goes well as a side dish for roasted/grilled meat or with an Indian meal.

Step by step Lasuni gobi recipe – Cauliflower with garlic

Take a frying pan and heat some oil, on medium heat.

Add the cauliflower and stir fry it for about 3 minutes. Let the cauliflower brown in spots. Remove the cauliflower on a plate and set aside.

In the same pan add little more oil.

Add garlic and ginger and cook few minutes, until the garlic gets brown in color.

Add tomato, salt and all the powder spices except for garam masala. Stir fry for 2 minutes.

Now bring the cauliflower florets into the pan, stir gently to mix and cover the pan with a lid.

Let it cook, on low medium heat, for about 25 minutes, until cauliflower gets soft and cooked.

Lastly, sprinkle some garam masala and garnish with fresh cilantro/coriander leaves.

Serve warm as a side dish for roast/grill meats or with an Indian meal.

  • This turned out great. I doubled the cauliflower so I did like 3 tomatoes and just adjusted spices accordingly and it was so wonderful. The good thing about this dish is that you don't have to pull out your measuring spoons, just eyeball the spices and oil..have fun, Indian cooking is supposed to be enjoyable! Mix and match and ultimately the flavors will be delicious. This will stay in my cooking rotation!
