Indian spicy sautéed okra and green peppers recipe

A light, simple and fast to cook vegetable dish, spicy sautéed okra and green peppers dish that can be served either with Indian bread or accompanying roast chicken, fried fish or rice.

Spicy sautéed okra and green peppers step by step recipe:

Chop onions, okra and green pepper into big pieces and keep aside.

Heat oil in a non stick pan and add cumin seeds. Once they start crackle, add chopped onions, crushed garlic and green pepper. Let it fry for about 4 minutes, on medium flame.

Add okra, mix well and let it cook for 5 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Now add all spices except garam masala, stir fry for another 5 minutes or until okra gets tender.

Add salt and lemon juice, sprinkle garam masala stir fry for 3 minutes more.

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

What you need
  • 25-30 okra;
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds;
  • 1 big onion, chopped;
  • 2 big green peppers;
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, crushed;
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder;
  • ½ tsp cumin powder;
  • 1 tsp coriander powder;
  • ¼ tsp red chilli powder;
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice;
  • 1 tsp garam masala;
  • fresh coriander leaves, chopped;
  • salt;
  • oil.
Method
